Privacy policy
This English version is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version (Datenschutzerklärung) is legally binding.
1. Who is responsible
ZQ Sound, Kadri Zeqiri, Rohräckerstr. 11, 74906 Bad Rappenau, Germany — see the legal notice. Email: support@zqsound.com.
2. This website
This website uses no analytics or advertising services and loads no fonts or content from other servers (exception: the checkout page, see section 6). When you visit it, our provider Cloudflare, Inc. processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested address, browser) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Cloudflare also asks your browser to report connection errors (Network Error Logging). Browsers that support this (such as Chrome and Edge) remember the request for up to 7 days and send Cloudflare a short report only when a request fails — with the requested address, type of error, time and IP address; nothing for normal visits. This serves the stable and secure operation of the site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
The website sets only one cookie, and only when you choose a language at the top: the cookie “sprache” remembers your choice for one year so that the home page greets you in that language on your next visit. It contains nothing but the language code (for example “tr”) and is strictly necessary for this (section 25 (2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG). Otherwise, the language of the home page follows the language setting your browser sends with every request; we do not store it.
3. ZQ Sound Center account
For an account we store your email address and your password — the password only as an irreversible hash, never in plain text. For a sign-in we store a sign-in key (token), also only as a hash. The purpose is to provide your apps and licences (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
To prevent passwords from being guessed, we count failed sign-ins per account and per internet connection (the IP address only as a hash). We count failed attempts per hour and delete the entries after one day (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The database and downloads are hosted by Cloudflare in data centres in Western Europe.
4. Licence and activation
So that a licence only applies to your computer, on activation we store a computer ID (a hash from which your computer’s device ID cannot be derived), the computer’s name, the operating system (Mac or Windows), the time of the first and last check, and the country and city derived from the IP address — we do not store the IP address itself. We also store computer changes and redeemed licence codes. The apps check your licence over the internet each time they start. The purpose is to fulfil the licence agreement and to prevent misuse (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR).
So that each computer can only use the trial once, we keep the computer ID (hash) and the account the trial was used with — even after an account is deleted (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
5. Emails and contact form
When you request a new password, we send you a link through Cloudflare’s email service. Whatever you write to support@zqsound.com arrives in our mailbox at iCloud (provider: Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland) and is answered from there (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR).
If you write to us through the contact form, we send your name, email address, message and the language of the page through Cloudflare’s email service to the same mailbox in order to reply to you (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR); we store none of this in our database. To prevent mass mailings we count per hour how often messages were sent from one internet connection (the IP address only as a hash); we delete the entry after one day (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
6. Buying
Purchases are made through Paddle.com Market Ltd. (London, United Kingdom), our reseller: Paddle sells the licence in its own name, takes payment, issues the invoice and processes your payment and billing details for this under its own privacy policy. The checkout page loads content from Paddle for this. So that Paddle can assign your purchase to your account, we pass your email address, your account number and the language of the checkout page to Paddle (so the confirmation comes in your language). If you abandon a purchase, Paddle may remind you of it by email.
Paddle sends us confirmation of the payment with amount, currency and an order number, and we add the licence to your account (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR); we then send you a confirmation through Cloudflare’s email service to your account’s address. We never see card details.
7. How long we keep data
For as long as your account exists. On request we delete your account with all licences and activations — write to support@zqsound.com. Only the record that a trial has already been used on a computer remains (section 4). Statutory retention obligations (for example for invoices) remain unaffected.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, and the right to data portability. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg (LfDI), baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de.
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR). Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you can object to this at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process this data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. To object, write to support@zqsound.com.
